Taylor Swift Debut
Taylor Swift’s debut album was released in 2006 when she was just 17 years old. From her first heartbreak anthem and hit single, “Tim McGraw,” to songs about young love, this album highlights Taylor’s youthfulness and country roots.
Outfit Inspo
The debut album is arguably the easiest to dress for. All you need is a flowy, knee-length dress and a denim jacket or a denim skirt paired with a flutter-sleeve top. The only non-negotiable is a pair of cowgirl boots. Here’s some outfit inspo from our Eras Tour experts.
Fearless
When Fearless was released in 2008, it became the longest-running #1 album by a solo female artist since 1995. This country pop album features iconic hits like “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me,” winning Taylor her first (of many more) Grammy awards.
Outfit Inspo
From the original album to Taylor’s Version, you’ll see Taylor in everything from long, flowy ball gowns to a gold fringe dress and knee-high boots. Embrace your inner rhinestone cowgirl for this era.
Speak Now
Released in 2010, Speak Now is full of whimsy and nostalgia. It tells the story of a girl transitioning from childhood to adulthood, highlighting the happiness and heartache that are inevitable during this stage of life. While still inspired by Taylor’s country roots, her transition to pop is on full display here.
Outfit Inspo
Speak Now is all about flowy, tulle dresses and soft curls. Dress like you belong on the album cover with a floor-length purple ball gown, or opt for a shorter cocktail dress so you can dance all night long. These fit ideas are sure to make John Mayer jealous.
- Back Button Short Puff Sleeve Dress in Lavender
- The Canvas Tote Bag in Purple
- Shine Bright Metallic Platform Sneakers in Purple
Red
Released in 2012, Red ushered in a new pop-rock era of Taylor Swift music. This is when “22” became the anthem for every Swiftie’s 22nd birthday, and “All Too Well” became the perfect song to scream-sing during late-night car rides with friends.
Outfit Inspo
If you’re channeling your inner 2012 Taylor Swift, go for the iconic black shorts, white tee, and black wide-brimmed hat. Complete the look with a pair of red heart sunglasses. Want to rep Red: Taylor’s Version? Opt for an ankle-length pea coat, chunky heeled boots, a fisherman’s cap, and her signature red lipstick. Oh, and don’t forget your scarf.
1989
Named after the year she was born, 1989 released when Taylor was 25 years old. This is when she officially made her transition to pop music, leaving country music in the rearview. It was also when she moved from Nashville to New York City, living on her own for the first time and navigating dating in the Big Apple.
Outfit Inspo
Fun, bright colors define Taylor’s overall look for this album. You can probably picture the metallic mini skirts and bejeweled crop tops that defined her 2015 tour. Or maybe you want to recreate the hot pink skirt and orange bandeau top she wore to the 2016 Grammys—where she won three awards. Here’s some inspo from our store.
- Floral Print Lace Long Sleeves Top
- Floral Fantasy Jacquard Skort
- Tulle Temptation Midi Skirt
- Pearl-Adorned Denim Delight Jacket
Reputation
After three years of silence, Taylor shocked Swifties worldwide with her iconic “Look What You Made Me Do” music video in November 2017. The electropop Reputation album features songs that call for revenge against her enemies and embrace the bad reputation the media gave her for “serial dating.” It’s officially out with the old Taylor, and in with the new.
Outfit Inspo
If black is your color, Reputation is the era for you. Make a statement in an all-black outfit with silver accents and snake print accessories to achieve the edgy look this album is known for. We hope you’re ready for it.
Lover
Taylor’s 2019 album titled Lover marks her transition from edgy pop back to the soft pop her fans know her for. Unlike her previous six albums, Lover is the first album she fully owned. It also features a song called “The Man,” whose music video marked Taylor’s directorial debut. In the album, she goes from gushing about being in love to calling out gender stereotypes to mourning the potential loss of her mom to cancer. It shows her growth as an artist and tells stories fans can relate to.
Outfit Inspo
Reminiscent of 1989, Lover is all about bright colors and sparkles. Taylor is featured with a pink glitter heart around her eye against the backdrop of a cotton candy pink sky on the album cover. Channel your inner romantic with pinks, purples, and pastels. A few butterfly clips or a pair of cat-eye heart sunglasses can’t hurt either.
- Tiered Ruffle Sleeve Blouse
- Risen Nashville Acid Pink Overalls
- Drop It Like It's Hot Pink Star Sneakers
Folklore
Just one year after releasing Lover, Taylor released her first-ever indie folk album in 2020 titled Folklore—marking an entirely new era of her music. After topping charts for years with country and pop albums, she broke even more records with her eighth studio album, like achieving the most Spotify streams in a day for a female artist.
Outfit Inspo
The signature Folklore look is romantic and woodsy. From the album cover to the music videos, you see Taylor wearing a combination of flowy dresses, combat boots, and—of course—a cardigan. Stick to neutral tones, soft floral prints, and a natural hair and makeup look.
- Woolen Wonder Open Front Sweater Cardigan
- Botanical Bloom Floral Jumpsuit
- Maple Glen Flannel Button Up with Side Slits
Evermore
Just four months after Folklore was released, Taylor’s second indie folk album, Evermore, was released in December 2020. She took advantage of her downtime during the pandemic to write 34 new songs—between the two sister albums. To their delight, Folklore fans saw much of the same storytelling and musical themes in Evermore.
Outfit Inspo
We all know the Evermore album cover, featuring Taylor facing away from the camera, wearing a plaid jacket and sporting a simple French braid. You can recreate her look with warm, neutral tones and pops of rust. Think cozy sweaters, combat boots, lace details, and flower crowns. Essentially, dress like you’re ready to wander through the woods on a crisp fall day.
- Olive Branch Tartan Button Down Maxi Coat
- Creamy Cocoon Oversized Knit Cardigan
- Sarah Buckled Platform Loafers
Midnights
After two years of waiting, Swifties were thrilled to welcome Taylor’s tenth studio album—Midnights—in 2022. This pop album is a more grown-up version of 1989 mixed with a more colorful version of Reputation. The original album features 13 songs from “13 sleepless nights scattered throughout [Taylor’s] life”, indicative of her lucky number 13.
Outfit Inspo
The Midnights era is characterized by lavender, dark blues, silver, sparkles, and gems. You could also go for a vintage 70s style as seen in the “Anti-Hero” music video. Whatever you wear, complete the look with Taylor’s signature cat-eye eyeliner.
- Romantic Lace Trim Cami Top in Ocean Blue
- The Victoria Shiny Velvet Blazer in Black
- Solid Tailor Wide Pants in Navy
- Corkys Legendary Rhinestone Star Sneakers
